Wearing both Hats!

The event in Atlanta was really nice. What was cool about it was that I designed the invitations and the programs and I was the photographer. Very nice I got to wear the designer hat and photographer hat, so that was a good experience for me.

Atlanta last weekend

I was in Atlanta last weekend. I was not on vacation though. My parents and I went to a retirement party for my mother's mentor and her husband. I was the professional photographer for the event. Ummmmm I have been photographing a lot of stuff maybe I should have a blog of just that stuff. What do you think? Well back on topic. I had an alright time. Not a great time. I enjoyed the event but was disappointed with Atlanta's hotel service. We stayed at the Buckhead Intercontential Hotel.( They paid for my hotel. Now wasn't that sweet) Now this is suppose to be a ritzy hotel. Now when we first got there the women said she needed a $100 deposit and when we asked her if we could use our debit as credit and she was like no. That was the first sign of trouble. We asked why and she was like if it is not a credit card then it would run it as debit also it was $100 a day, we were staying 2 days. I was like nah, but luck the people that hire me said they would take care of it. Then there was alcohol spilled in my parents room and we called immediately and they never came up the whole time we were there. Then if you have to pay so much to stay there why do you have to pay for everything parking was $20 a day, using the Internet for $ 3.50 for like 30min. No refrigerator and no microwave. They did have some beautiful art work though. Well any way here are some pics from the trip.

Graffiti Love

Hey check out the Graffiti in Tallahassee. It is located near the Art area in town. I really enjoy riding by its cool to know we have some of it in a small town like Tallahassee.

Sweet treat

Ok, so I thought that I would have nothing to post today and BAM! I found something very interesting. Back story: One of my mother's old students came by her office yesterday to say what's up and fill her in on what she was currently doing. (My mom use to run a science scholarship program for minorities) She told my mother that here mother had successfully dyed her hair with henna. ( I was just talking about that the other day, look how God works, well I will save that for another post) Then she told her that she is baking now and has her own company in town. It's called Bite of your Life, check her out. So I was excited because I look at cake and cupcake blogs pretty often. So I visited the site and came across the shop that sells flavored fondant. Cool! and it is located in Savannah. I left there in 2008 but the shop has been there since 2007, How could I have missed it. Well any way that the reason for this post. 482 this is for you too! Enjoy! So I checked out this shop and it looks cool. Sweet!

Weekly Wisdoms for the week of August 10, 2009

A breakthrough requires a trial to break through.

It would be nice to simply wake up one day and suddenly be a mature Christian, but in order to grow up in God, we will have to go through trials. There is no other way to grow strong spiritually than to go through trials.

1 Peter 5:10 says, And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. You may not like trials, but this verse says that when you are going through trials after you have suffered a little while, you will grow to be firmly rooted and grounded (strong, firm and steadfast) in God.

Similarly, James 1:12 says, Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. Here again, you don't get the rewards (the crown of life) until you have persevered under trial and stood the test.

So, learn to be thankful in your trials, because in order to get your breakthrough, you need a trial to break through.

Therefore, don't be discouraged during times of suffering. Know that after you have suffered a little while, God himself will make you strong firm and steadfast.

People listen to people who listen.

Far too often, many Christians view evangelism as a game involving "me," the Christian, vs. "you," the non-Christian. However, reaching unbelievers effectively usually requires working with them in order to develop a relationship based on trust, and any relationship requires listening to the other person in order to find out where they are spiritually and emotionally. When you authentically listen to others, they will genuinely listen to you.

In Romans 12:10, Paul writes, Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. To honor other people means respecting them, which includes listening to them. In fact, simply by listening attentively to someone you show that you care about that person: you place value on them.

Remember, people listen to people who listen.

Beautiful Bargin Fabric

I had a meeting with this really wonderful women on last Monday. We talked for hours about her art and business plans but she dropped a bug in my ear about some scrap fabrics like big pieces of fabric, for like $0.50. She said she went to Tallahassee Decorative. So since I love working with scraps and samples I was excited and Checked it out. Score! She was right! Thanks Lisa!

Oh, Last Friday of Freedom

So, during the summer my place of employment implemented this four day work week. Let me tell you this schedule was not for me. We work 10 hour days with 30 min lunches and being on OPS it sucks because you are being paid by the hour. So you are technically working a 10 1/2 hour day because you do not get a payed 30 min lunch like regularly paid employees do( I work for a university as a photographer and other media positions, just in case you didn't know) Well enough of the gripping. Well last Friday was my last free Friday so of course I enjoyed like always. Chillin Out. First I went to Keiser College, I wanted to check out their culinary pastry art program. I was really excited about it but now I have to find some money. I will not worry I will just Let God handle that and ask Jesus to put in a good word for me. *smile* Well after that I went to Panera( of course) for lunch. So yummmy! Then I chilled out at home. It is raining like crazy here in Florida, at least in Tallahassee it is.Then I had to go to work at 4:00( bummer, last friday off and I am at a graduation where they really didn't need my help but it worked out any way. ) So at about six It started. At about 7 something it was over and about 8something I was stuck in traffic and about 9 something I went to Tropical Smoothie. (There berry lemonade smoothie is wonderful. You should try it! If there is one near you) Now Saturday night I was at home and decide a me time date night( My man was out of town). I got all dressed up and put on some make up( hopefully I will get better with the application of it) and headed out to RED LOBSTER. I had a great time talking with Melaine the bar tender, I sit at the bar sometimes if I am eating alone. She was awesome. So here are some pics from my well spent and enjoyed Friday and Saturday. Can not wait to hear from my home girl this week, she was in NYC this weekend. Fun!
Doesn't that look delish! See the Keiser College folder in the background.Date Night begins!
Food was fabulous!

Date night success! I wanted to go to the movie but was full and tired so off to the house I went.
