Savannah, Ga., isn’t only about Girl Scouts, Paula Deen’s calorie-bomb cooking or the intrigue of John Berendt’s “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.” The city is also home to a thriving design scene spawned in large part by the Savannah College of Art and Design. While SCAD, as the 30-year-old college is known, built its reputation as one of the country’s leading design schools, its administration wisely snapped up a number of big, beautiful (and, let’s not forget, historic) buildings that faced probable demolition. As a result, its schools, lecture halls and administrative buildings are seamlessly woven into Savannah’s urban fabric, making the college an integral part of the city and revitalizing several once-derelict neighborhoods.

No Colored Allowed

Alright! I just read this article that kinda made sick and sad at the same time. This guy in Augusta, Ga Wants to start a leauge based on color and culture and I quote the article "Only players that are natural born United States citizens with both parents of Caucasian race are eligible to play in the league," Now that is just a slap in the face. I know our black Men are talented but not all of them can play a sport and guess what other cultures can play too, even the white guys. So what message is that sending out but "No Colored Allowed" Read it for your self and let me know what you think.

BASKETBALL LEAGUE FOR WHITE AMERICANS

A new professional basketball league boasting rosters made up exclusively of white Americans has its eyes set on Augusta, but the team isn't receiving a warm welcome. The All-American Basketball Alliance announced in a news release Sunday evening that it intends to start its inaugural season in June and hopes Augusta will be one of 12 cities with a team. As you know I am a photographer and if you don't know. Hey :) I am a photographer! So my boyfriend sent this too me and I saw this article on Fred Miranda( Photographers' blog and forum). Very crazy and very cool. I still trying to figure out if I would do it ummmmmmmmm.

Trying to keep it short: I sold my first DSLR (Rebel XT) to my buddy from Florida who happens to be a skydive instructor. He used it mounted on his helmet to shoot skydivers in a free fall. The mounting plate detached when he opened his chute and both cameras (photo + video) took a fall from approximately 3000 ft. Amazingly, the Rebel survived the fall and my friend is still using it to this very day. It has a crack in the plastic body and the kit lens is a little jerky when zooming, but functional. I'd like to know if there is a similar story or something close to this but I doubt. It might me a world record indeed (for the height of a camera drop which survived). Kudos to canon! PS: New development of the story: it seems that we might be lucky and get to see the video scene too. The guy has the tape somewhere in his files, you can see the moment when it got detached from the helmet and the free fall all the way down to the moment it hit the ground and got smashed. The cameras got separated when he opened the parachute, there was nothing to soften the impact for the Rebel. Estimated velocity: 100-110 mph. Ground was pretty soft but even so, the impact was massive. Stay tuned for the coming video

No Dreadslocks at Carowinds

I was on Black girl with Long hair today and ran across this story about a black girl being turned away from a job interview because she had locks. So the story didn't get that much play but it was talk about on the radio too.Now I am a little sensitive to that, because I use to have locks. So check out the story and let me know what you think. Very Touching Wedding

ok check this. I was just one of my favorite wedding blogs(100 Layer cake) and thought the story of this surprise wedding was so touching you have to read this.
