BOOK JUNKIE RETURNS

Image is located here.
I have a confession to make. I am excited to say that hey I am a BOOK JUNKIE! I have been one for quite some while. Let me explain. If I go to the Library, a friends house or and where and I see a book I think I am going to like, guess what I buy it, it's always a plus when I like the book( which is most of the time). So I often visit fellow SCAD Classmates blogs on the regular. It's cool to see how things are going for them without out actually talking to them everyday. ( Hey we are all busy now) It is also good to see them still doing there own projects and the cool jobs they have fall into. Now to my point. I was on Ameila's blog( you should check it out it's cool) and she had this post about a book about color and natural palettes and I love any information about natual dyes, colors, etc. So I went out and brought it the same day. I am in love with it not only is it cool I got it for like $8 and free shipping. So if anyone else would like to support my habit, I like fibers, natural dyes, photography, DIY, sewing and what ever else sounds like learning or yeah and Jesus (oops almost forgot, Forgive me:) )

Natural Dyeing Relationship

Ok So since I have Graduated from SCAD I have not been very nice to my lover"Natural Dyeing".I have been promising to rekindle our love, but haven't found the time or the SPACE to start dyeing again. I am really missing the lab and the countless hours of experimenting and dyeing and producing natural dyed goodies to sell and give as gifts. So I hope not to keep neglecting my love, but all I can say is that I am trying. Until then I watch other people's relationship with natural dyeing grow and see what mine could be like later. So check out these relationships.( I have been following them for a while)Ok this is Tinctoria, I have been following them since 07'. They Use natural dyes and they dye hemp and they are located in Portland,OR. I really love they the rich colors that they can achieve on the hemp. Just Beautiful. I love how the website has changed it looks really good. One day I will buy something. But check it out!

Ok this is Tenfold,I found them around the same time I found tinctoria. I was researching natural dyes and different materials that I could dye. Cotton was my main one. So I stumbled up these wonderful people. They Dye Cotton, they sell fabric( naturally dyed of course) clothing and the dyes themselves. They are located in Seattle Washington. Again one day I will buy something from them also. I just love how there website has change and how much they have grown it's great. So check them out also.

Using Natural Dyes

Naturally dyed paper and screen printing using natural dyes

Natural dyed dining set, table cloth, runner, place mats and napkins

One of my buddies told me I should put some of my naturally dyed products on my blog so here goes. These are some of my naturally dyed books that I made for my portfolio upon graduation from Savannah College of art and design. The pages are cotton Rag paper. I used logwood and Osage orange to dye some of the paper. I hand dyed everything except the chip board. If you have any questions you could just leave me a comment. Enjoy.
