Minority Enterprise Deveopment

So all last week I attended this conference called Minority Enterprise Development, also cutely named "MED" Week. This Federal Agency promotes the growth of minority business. Click here to find out more about the agency and there might one in your town. Apparently from what I found out they hold a conference on week out of the year( If I am wrong just let me know)
This was like a conference for networking among Minority Business owners in Tallahassee, for the politicians to campaign a little, knowledge and information that would be helpful to just anyone who wanted to attend. It was interesting and very informative. I was unaware of this kind of it's impact in our community. I had a great time and learn a whole lot. So here is the link again so you can check it out. Hey get involved with your community they could doing some cool things that might concern you! http://www.mbda.gov/

Some important people in Leon County.

This was the first event on Monday. They had a reception for anyone who wanted to come and that own a business. It was hosted by Pinnacle Construction Support Group. They are some good people. This was a networking gathering. My aunt was on of the presenters and gave a workshop the following day. Wow can I tell you I met so many people that had interesting businesses right here in town.

I had to rush home and change into something suitable for meeting important people of the great city of Tallahassee. Can I tell you by the end of the reception my feet hurt so bad . Thank God I had the Flats in the car. Marc did some great networking for 4quartersonline.

Ok Tuesday. Was great filled full of good information in all the workshops. My aunt was on of the presenters. She did quite well. She talked about obtaining and writing grants for your non-profit. She has her own non profit in the ATL.

There she is receiving her award.

Wednesday was the last day and they had a luncheon for networking and to end the conference.

I didn't get to stay for the Keynote speaker who I heard was awesome. Ahhhhhhh maybe I will find her online.
End to a great conference maybe I can get more involved next time. Whoop Whoop 2011 !

Yuda What?

So I was like really upset to find out I was like late on the Gocco information. They have really discontinued it. I was so sad. Well I never give up any way I found something else it is called Yuda screen printing machine. It's like an all in one. You can coat and dry screens in it. It is an exposure unit and a press all in one. In the stores it's like $300.00( Well at micheals), but Dharma Trading has it on sell for like $200.00. I was think about getting it. I saw it in Micheals crafts store it's huge, I thought it was small when I saw it on the internet. I am going to check for the details and then we will try it out. But check out dharma trading to see more pics then I have in this post, that's where I got them from anyway.

Gocco What ?

Of course I am reading blogs obsessively until the athletic events pick back up in August at my job( I am doing work I promise). Then I will be out of the office a lot being a photographer of course. Well anyways one of my new favorite blogs now ( It's a wedding blog, I just really enjoy reading them.) Well this one is called We met in a bar, she is getting married in July and she started her blog when she got engaged last year. Going through her old post are a joy. She is a graphic designer and makes invitations and has made her own for her wedding. Now to the point she mention some screens called Gocco, I have never heard of them. If I can describe it, they are consumer friendly screen prints. Now I have to try them. I am not sure how to decide it as this if you have ever done any screen printing you know the arduous task of coating a screen all the way to exposing. So if you are just going to print small stuff like paper goods and maybe totes and shirts this these Gocco screens are good for that you can use a laser printer to expose your screen and everything doesn't have to be light sensitive. I am sure there are some cons to this but I will have to try to let you know. So when I get some screens we are going to do some experiments. On We met at a bar she got her screens from papersource. These are pic from papersource of what the screens look like. Four eight two this one is for you girl. (I will still screen print) Here are some links to explain : How to use the Print Gocco the picture at the top shows the begining of the process. Gocco process
