Without further ADIEU!

We were almost finished those outfits for the Christmas Contata. I think next time we will do it the way I normally make clothes. Cut everything, then iron and everything, and sew everything.
Don't they look beautiful. Great Job Cuz!
Good job Marcus ( I think that is his name) He is an awesome musician and he and some other musicians are starting a jazz club here in town. They will play on New Year's eve, unfortunately I will be in church, but next time.
Ok I am suppose to be working, but My cousin is having some fun with my camera

This past weekend was quite busy so let me recap. Well in a previous post I mention the outfits my cousin and I were making for the Christmas Cantata. So we finished of course and they look pretty good, despite all the stains, weird stitches and other issues. The Cantata was really nice and the girls were so happy to be made up and dancing.

So since I love working with scraps and samples I was excited and Checked it out. Score! She was right! Thanks Lisa!

Serger frustration!!!!

Ok, so I have used a serger before, but I have never threaded one. Ugghhhhhhhhh so frustrating!
I have done the threading like a million times and it is still too loose. I kinda don't know what to do. My friend that lent it to me was like oh no I don't have the manual but it's really easy to thread and use.( yeah right! I really need the manual cause I know I am not threading it right. I have tried to find the manual on line but can not find a free one and the people in town act like they can't show you how to use it unless you brought one from them. Now I called my home girl and she suggested that the I have the silver things in the back way up. I did that and then I realized I threading around the knobs instead of through them. ( that help a little) But the bottom thread still is loose and I have tried everything I know and asked all those who I know. I am just really pist about the manual and frustrated that it's I can not thread it. It doesn't matter the show must go on. There are other ways to clean up rough edges.

McCall M5618 in the making

So, I was suppose to make this dress for one of my little homie, it was for her Birthday. She turned 14 years old, how fun I really don't remember age 14 all that much. Anyway I was trying to have the dress done by her b-Day, buuuuuutt I didn't. So I will try to tackle it this weekend so we can at least have a fitting. She was so wonderful to shop with she picked out her own fabric and pattern. I must say this again, Jo ann's really be kicking out some pretty good repeats.

My mother's side of the family( her dad, my granddad) is from Monrovia, Liberia. My aunt goes back their ever maybe 6 months. I myself have never been there, but would like to go there someday. My Aunt is awesome. She always brings back cool stuff like jewlery and clothes. This time I begged her to bring me back some fabric and she did( OH JOY!!!!!!!!!!!) So here are some pics of some of the fabric. I think they are just beautiful. I am trying to figure out what I want to make with them.

oh hummmm

Well today I am still recovering from celebrating Graduations all weekend long. I have so long forgotten how it feels to graduate from high school all the excitement your parents and love ones feel. I went a graduation on Friday at 7:oo that did not end until about 9:15. Didn't leave there until about 10:00 and then went to eat. Uhhh I really don't like eating that late ex specially if the food was so heavy. But I was hungry a little. Then some one at the party asked me if I was a vegetarian, because I had salad and mac and Cheese on my plate. I was like hey I wasn't finish. So I got some chicken, which was very good by the way. Then I told some one else what I could not eat I would eat in the morning and the same person asked me if I was watching my weight and eating late at night makes the food taste better. Just because I am short doesn't mean I am watching my weight. Ladies if you see someone smaller then yourself leave them alone about what they eat cause it makes you look self conscious. Just Do what you do. Well enough, this same graduation I wore one of my new creations which I will post when I get the chance.

The second graduation was on Saturday at the same time but we went home after that one, but I did wear another creation a high waisted skirt I have been working on and again will post later.
I made it out of denim. It fit pretty good but I think I need to use a stretcher denim.

Sewing Therapy

I am really starting to enjoy sewing a whole lot now that I am out of school. It's really been my saving grace when I come home from work. I enjoy going to sewing blogs and reading how to get better at it. I start sewing when I am frustrated, down and out and out or when I need some alone time when everything seems a little chaotic. I really just started sewing only a year ago so I am still learning. I just know it is very therapeutic. Oh yeah just throwing this out. One of my favorite blogs is so gone. Thatsewlive where are you. Your blog was one of my favorites.
